What is the Micro-mouse project?

Project description

The Micro-Mouse project is a second-year university project for the Electronic and Electrical Engineering course in Swansea University.

The project sets us in a team of five, and between us we have to select our roles and work towards the ultimate goal of having a working automated robot.

There are a lot of factors that we will have to keep into consideration, for example, we must keep track of all of the costs of the project. there are also the environmental implications that we must consider such as the waste materials must be accounted for.

We also have to be unique so we have to make a special feature for our Micro-Mouse see below for more information on that.

Another task is to set up and maintain a website - I wonder how we're doing on that front!

Special Feature

We have decided to utilize 3 ultrasonic sensors on our micromouse. These sensors will be replacing the need to have infrared emitters as our senors are able to detect objects. The main purpose of the sensors is for use in battle mode, since we are not emitting any infrared, it will be harder for enemy teams to find us. We are however keeping our infrared receivers, so we can find out if the enemy mouse is around us. Ultrasound also makes it easier to avoid obstacles, it is precise and we can program at what point we think the mouse is 'too close' to an object.
